Bernie Sanders cares about his country more about his own health. The politician admitted he ignored the warning signs of a heart attack that hit him last week.

Now the 79-year-old is recovering but, sadly, his family has just faced another tragedy.

Bernie’s daughter-in-law passed away

The Sanders family has been struck with grief. The senator’s daughter-in-law Rainè Riggs suddenly passed away. The mother-of-three was just 46 years old.

Riggs left this world just 2 days after finding out about her devastating diagnoses – she had neuroendocrine cancer. According to the family, she started filling very ill 3 weeks ago but the doctors couldn’t find what was wrong with her.

Only last week Rainè learned she had cancer but she passed away before starting a fight with it. Riggs was married to Bernie Sanders’ son Levi with whom they adopted three children from China.

She met Sanders when the two volunteered at an emergency food shelter in Vermont and had been together ever since.

Ironically, the 46-year-old was a neuropsychologist and studied psychiatric syndromes connected to cancer diagnoses.
