In 2018, Abby Lee Miller’s life took a very unexpected turn. Dance Moms star started experiencing ‘excruciating neck pain’ that turned out to be a symptom of a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Miller was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma and had to have a spinal surgery which led her to using a wheelchair for an entire year. The actress spent a lot of time in physical therapy, learning how to walk all over again.

Luckily, she remained positive at all times and finally, she made her first steps!

She can walk again

Abby Lee Miller shocked the viewers of The Doctors on Tuesday when she took her first steps in public after being confined to a wheelchair for a year.

Miller’s oncologist, Lawrence Piro, commented on the actress’ impressive recovery:

I think that the most important ingredient in her recovery, and what is going to determine her possibility for the future, is her own ability to work at rehab.

Dr. Piro revealed that Abby had a knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago and he wanted her to stand up on her own to put her new knee to the test.

Announcing that it is an incredibly ‘scary’ thing to do, Miller managed to stand up and take her very first steps, accompanied by loud cheers from the audience.

The 52-year-old can’t wait to finally get rid of her wheelchair. Earlier, Miller recalled how she fell out of it at Pittsburgh Airport and no one helped her.

We hope that Abby will say goodbye to her wheelchair very soon!
