Marie Osmond's life was anything but perfect. One of the worst things that's ever happened to her was losing her beloved son Michael who took his own life at the age of 19.

Although the famous singer raised 7 other children, she never stopped thinking about how her Michael's life would've turned out. Marie dedicated herself to raising awareness about depression as she also went through dark times as a child.

Marie Osmond's childhood almost ruined men for her

During a discussion on The Talk, Osmond opened up about her childhood and how being abused made her question her sexuality:

When I was about eight or nine, I actually thought I was gay. The reason is because I had been [mistreated] to the point that men made me sick. I didn't trust them, I didn't like them.

Marie also confused her body image issues with being attracted to women as she always looked at females with envy and couldn't understand what she was actually feeling:

I was looking at women and I thought 'why am I looking at women? I must be gay.' And then I realized -- because I'm a thinker -- why did God give me all these great brothers and why did He give me this amazing father?. And truly, the changed my opinion of men, which made me feel that it was something that I was going through.

Osmond says she's incredibly happy with Stephen. As she told PEOPLE:

I love being with my husband. He is the sweetest man I know. He lives to serve and really listens to people's needs.
