It comes as no secret that Jamie Lee Curtis used to be a drug addict for years. Thankfully, the realization came to her mind roughly two decades ago, when she decided to quit opioid addiction by all accounts.

Though the Halloween star has been candid on her opioid addiction for years, she still shares new details, which give us goosebumps. In Variety's Recovery Issue, Curtis opened up about her horrifying demons at the time.

A two-time Golden Globe winner used Vicodin as a painkiller after the surgery on her "puffy eyes" for a decade. Addiction runs in the Curtis brood — both Jamie Lee Curtis and Tony Curtis, as well as the actress' late brother, were drug addicts.

In the issue, the mother-of-two said she did drugs with her dad, when nobody was there for him amid his addiction issues.

But I shared drugs with my dad. I did cocaine and freebased once with my dad. But that was the only time I did that, and I did that with him. He did end up getting sober for a short period of time and was very active in recovery for about three years. It didn't last that long. But he found recovery for a minute.

Thank Lord, Jamie changed her mind about it and sought for professional help. As a part of recovery, she had her husband beside her, alongside their daughter and son.

Sobriety

The Halloween star has been sober for nearly 20 years, and she is thankful for keeping her sobriety under control. She once said:

I have worked very hard to stay sober and help others. My whole life my parents had dependence on alcohol. This is a family disease. I lost a brother at 20 from heroin. It will be the greatest achievement of my life if I can stay sober until I die.

We do hope Jamiee Lee Curtis will battle any inclination and inherent predisposition to substance and alcohol addiction. She deserves the best, and we all are by her side!
