Marie Osmond Considered Ending Her Life During A Particularly Rough Time But Her Mother Stepped In Just In Time

Marie Osmond's mother was there for her during major points in her life including a particularly rough time.

Marie seems to have it all with a successful career and a beautiful family. But things aren't always so rosy. The TV personality once revealed she suffered from postpartum depression and chronicled her journey in her book, Behind the Smile: My Journey out of Postpartum Depression.

Here, Marie opened up about feeling really down shortly after her son Matthew was born. She struggled alone for five months before she asked for help but she eventually survived through it.

How Marie Osmond's mother stepped in to help out

Marie Osmond recently opened up to Dr. Oz about contemplating suicide at a point in her life.

The 60-year-old revealed details about different aspects of her life including her darkest times. The TV personality said she considered driving off the road at one point.

Just, three times. Got in the car and drove up the coast of California and my mother found me in a motel.

She explained how her mother was there for her.

She said to me, "Marie, I’ve never told you this, but when I had my last child, I had postpartum depression. I got in a car and drove up the coast of California."

Marie said that hearing her mother admit to going through something similar helped her believe she could overcome it as well. This was a turning point for the performer who realized then that sharing pain this way will enable people to help each other.

In an interview with Closer Weekly, Marie credited her mother for teaching her how to follow her heart and make her health a priority.

She counseled me on the importance of taking care of myself.

Marie Osmond and her mother obviously had a close relationship and the mom was there for her daughter when she desperately needed her. Today, Marie is able to share her story knowing that she can help others with the same struggles if need be.
