Glenn Close Blames Fame For Her 3 Failed Marriages & Thinks Her Success Is “Difficult" To Accept

Glenn Close can be called an expert in divorce. However, she believes that the reason all of her marriages failed tremendously is her fame.

During her recent interview, Close recalled a study conducted by Harvard, which said that people tend to like nurturing women who lean more towards traditional feminine stereotypes.

But Glenn is not someone like that. You can tell that from the roles she chooses to play. She commented:

I’ve played a lot of women that people have called bitchy or evil.

And she’s right! Her most recognizable roles include:

• Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians – a woman was ready to kill puppies for a new coat;
• Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons – a woman who is not afraid to manipulate people to get what she wants;
• Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction – a woman, whose sick love turned her into a stalker.

Yet, all of those roles brought her awards and adoration from the critics. Glenn believes that her career success led to the downfall of all of her relationships because it’s hard for men to accept her fame.

She explained:

I think it’s difficult. I don’t think the male ego is necessarily conducive to having a really successful and recognizable partner. I think it can be hard and I now accept that!

Will there be a time Glenn Close says yes to a husband #4? She is not sure but does acknowledge the importance of holy matrimony.

Despite saying that she believes ‘we are better with a partner,’ she claims that she’s happy to be by herself. We think Close might be fudging a little bit and she might be thinking that, too, as she adds that she sometimes thinks how her life would look if she had a partner and we hope that one day she’ll get a chance to find that out.
