Gino D'Acampo is one of the most popular celebrity chefs in the UK, but seems like his fame is getting into his head as he recently got in a dispute with his neighbors over an issue with his $1.6 million house.

Gino D'Acampo fights with neighbors

The TV chef demanded to close a public footpath near his Hertfordshire estate to keep the fans away on weekends. Gino said he often gets abused in his driveway by autograph hunters and wants to ensure his family's safety.

As he told Mail Online:

I don't know what all the fuss is about. You can see the path is open. I only want to have it closed at weekends when it's not being used.

The problem is that the footpath connects people to a pharmacy and the doctor's surgery, so the demand to close it enraged many people. As one neighbor told the publication:

He only moved here a couple of years ago and now he thinks he owns the town. Who does he think he is? The lane is an historic walkway. It has been in use for years – hundreds of years probably. It's the best way to get to the surgery. It takes about five times longer to walk around the surgery.

It has been reported that managers of nearby businesses have complained to the city council about D'Acampo's demands and don't plan on allowing his whimsy to be catered to.

Reactions online

@Jayne Murray:

I do like him BUT he has a short memory, he broke into Paul Young's house aged 21 and served 2 years for it.....and he moaning about people looking for autograph's, and safety of his family...well if he that worried sell up and move

@Lynn Crawford:

I used to like Gino but the more "popular" he has become the more big headed he has got, I now find him arrogant and up himself, with no respect for anyone.

@Sue Sanders:

The path has always been there so he should have thought about that before he bought the house. Hope he gets it refused.

@Pauline Arber:

These so called "celebrities" really do think they are something special! Wants to remember it was the fans that he made his money off.

What do you think about this situation?
