Ruth Langford and Eamonn Holmes have been together for over 20 years and married for almost 10. Ruth noted that the secret to their long-standing union is ‘compromise’ but ‘laughter’ is what keeps the two together.

Ruth Langsford is Eamonn Holmes’ second wife. But she might have never become one at all.

Ruth Langsford’s deal-breaker

The 59-year-old TV presenter candidly spoke about her marriage on Loose Women. Ruth Langsford revealed she had a massive deal-breaker for Eamonn Holmes when they just started dating.

Ruth explained that she really wanted children so she brought up this topic early on. She recalled:

When I met him, and I obviously knew he had three children from his first marriage, I did [talk about children] really quickly, it was our second date.

She revealed that if Eamonn said he didn’t want to have more kids in the future, the pair would have broken up immediately.

Ruth continued:

If he'd have said 'no I don't want [anymore] children' I'd have totally understood… I would have said 'do you know what, it's been lovely but let's not take this any further because we're going to break each other's hearts.’

She explained her reasoning to the show’s panelists:

I didn't want to go down that road ... I could feel where that was going and we were falling in love.

Luckily, Eamonn was not opposed to having more offspring. The couple welcomed their one and only child, son Jack, in 2002 when Langsford was 42.

Ruth also became a step-mom to Eamonn’s three kids from his first marriage to Gabrielle Holmes. It seems that everything has worked out pretty well for the pair and we are happy for them!
