Celebrity children grow up in the spotlight and unlike many of us, they get used to camera flashes before they even learn to walk. When it comes to famous kids, Jay-Z and Beyoncé's daughter, Blue Ivy, can’t be overlooked as she’s considered an adorable extension of her parents.

But while Blue Ivy is not the only child, she’s definitely the eldest and as she gets older, her twin siblings Rumi and Sir Carter will always look up to her. Recently, the 7-year-old Ivy set the bar higher for celebrity kids when she won her first-ever award for her skills as a songwriter.

Beyonce's daughter won big at BET’s Soul Train Awards 2019

At BET’s Soul Train Awards 2019 on Sunday, many artists were recognized for their work in promoting black excellence in music and among them was Beyoncé’s baby Blue Ivy.

For her contributions in Beyonce’s Lion King song, Brown Skin Girl, with SAINt JHN and WizKid, Blue Ivy was a recipient of the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award.

In the song, which celebrates dark and brown-skinned women all over the world, Ivy also lent her precious voice singing, “Brown skin girl, your skin just like pearls."

The recognition is significant, as this could be the first time a child her age has such a coveted award that celebrates talented artists in music. At a very young age, she can already brag about being an award-winning songwriter and she would if she did so.

Fans were bitter that Blue Ivy received the award

But while Sunday night was special for Blue, fans on Facebook had mixed reactions to the news, with many doubting is she actually “wrote” anything on her own.

Some people were not happy that Blue Ivy received the award.

I wonder how much they "donated" for that award.

I doubt she 100% wrote her own. Beyonce doesn't even do that. She had to have had help.

However, others were supportive of the little child as they felt that no matter what Blue does, she will always be under the shadow of her parents.

The sad thing is that she will never get the full recognition she deserves if in fact she really did do this on her own...because of who her parents are.

Congratulations blue so what if her parents helped wow such comments

We think that little Blue Ivy deserves the award since if apples never fall far from the tree, then its possible that she inherited more than a morsel of her parents’ combined talent.

What do you think about Blue Ivy's award as a songwriter? Does she deserve it?
