News, tabloids, and social media pages are full of one poignant news: Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, tragically died in a helicopter crash. Generally, nine people were confirmed dead in a Sunday catastrophe.

The NBA retired legend was only 41 years old, leaving behind his wife and three other children. Fans, family members, and friends have been mourning Kobe Bryant and his teen daughter, and it seems like the news isn't going to stop to grief for a while.

Kobe Bryant's wife

The NBA star was the reflection of the happiest human being. He had it all: a strong family bond, a devoted wife, many children, success, money, and inner harmony. Kobe Bryant met his wife Vanessa when he was 21 and she was 17, respectively.

According to People, the couple met when she was a background model on the set of a 2002 music video. Their instant chemistry was followed by an engagement and then a low-key wedding.

Some interesting facts:

  • Bryant's parents did not approve of Vanessa and even did not attend their marriage, as they thought she was too young for their son. Plus, Kobe's family was concerned about the lack of the prenuptial agreement between spouses.
  • When Kobe was accused of a sexual assault, Vanessa was among the first to stand by him and support regardless of his biggest mistake.
  • Vanessa filed for divorce in 2011 after she caught Kobe with another woman. Yet, in 2013, she called off the divorce and focused on reconciliation.

Kobe Bryant's kids

During their 19-year marriage, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant were blessed with four beautiful and lookalike daughters. Their oldest one, Natalia Diamante, turned 17 years old a week before losing her father and sister in the accident.

Apart from Natalia, they had 13-year-old Gianna Maria-Onore (deceased), 3-year-old Bianka Bella, and 7 months old Capri Kobe. It's hard to imagine how Vanessa will stay strong with three little girls after her husband and daughter's deaths.

Interestingly enough, Gianna was planning to follow in her father's footsteps. According to CNN, she and Kobe were flying to a basketball game at the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, where Gianna had to play and Bryant had to coach.

The 13-year-old girl was passionate about basketball, and her father made sure to be engaged with his daughter's interests fully by coaching her team. In fact, the late NBA legend saw Gianna as 'the heir' to his legacy.'

We are out of words, generally speaking. The incident is so tragic and devastating that it's difficult to explain something or even express sincere condolences to the family. Kobe Bryant was a legendary person, who turned his mistakes into lessons and encouraged his wife, girls, friends, and fans to follow dreams and never give up, no matter how hard it can get. Rest in peace, Kobe and Gianna!
