What Odds! How Seth Meyer's Wife, Alexi Ashe, Almost 'Ruined' Their Wedding Day

Date January 21, 2020 17:39

Seth Meyers met his wife, Alexi Ashe, at Chris Kattan's wedding in the 2000s. He believes it was love at first sight, as the two bonded pretty quickly and got engaged in July 2013, after a five-year romance. Several months after the engagement, they tied the knot in a romantic ceremony.

I had a sense that she was the closest I'd ever met to someone who I could see myself with. Pretty much right away.

The SNL host also revealed that the key to their marriage was "finding time for each other," considering their busy schedules weekly. The comedian and human rights attorney have the fairytale-like love story, but their wedding day eve was somewhat catastrophic. Read below why.

Seth Meyer's wedding

At a rehearsal dinner before the Big Day, the SNL legend's wife ate bad oysters and got severe food poisoning — it was his fault, by the way. Seth assured she would be fine, but the following morning, Alexi Ashe went to the emergency room and was told not to play any wedding due to feeling unwell.

Although the nurse boldly said, 'You aren't getting married today,' Meyer's wife showed her hero-like side and said, 'No, I AM getting married.' So, after a while and some efficient medications, Alexi felt quite fine and awesome, marking her romance with the man of her dreams. It was one of the best days of their lives.

Seth Meyer's children

We have no idea how and why, but Alexi Ashe and Seth Meyer's kids were born in very odd places.

Here are the stories:

  • Their first son was almost born in Uber. Seth shared a funny story of how his wife, 'dying' from pain, was standing on her knees and sticking her head out of the car while screaming, 'I don't like it'. Thankfully, their baby was born healthy, regardless of early labor.

  • Their second baby was born...in a lobby of their apartment's building. They did not call the doctor; they just went down to the lobby, and Alexi stopped her husband and said subtly, 'The baby is here.'

Honestly, the way Seth Meyers has shared these stories has made us laugh out loud. It is evident how much the comedian adores his wife and pokes fun at her two childbirths. Besides, the SNL host converts such stories into something humorous and adorable so that it puts a smile on a face in such a gloomy day. Admit it: you also smiled when watching the videos!
