James McAvoy's Secret Wife: The Scottish Actor "Secretly" Married His Girlfriend 3 Years After The Painful Divorce, According To Reports

Date November 26, 2019

James McAvoy and his wife, Anne-Marie Duff, got divorced after a decade of marriage. The couple met while working together on Shameless in 2003, in which Duff played the love interest of her future husband's character.

James and Anne-Marie had instant chemistry, and three years later, they tied the knot in a down-to-earth wedding ceremony. In 2010, the couple welcomed their only son, Brendan, who is their "main priority" even after the split in 2016.

Is James McAvoy married now?

The Scottish star is indeed taken. After the painful divorce from his first wife, James McAvoy had a girlfriend named Lisa Liberalti. According to one of his closest friends, the two are even married.

James McAvoy met his now-wife on the set of Split in Philadelphia โ€” the 40-year-old played the main character, whereas Lisa Liberalti was a production assistant. The X-Men star reportedly "secretly married" Lisa three years after his separation from ex-wife, Anne-Marie Duff.

The alleged announcement was proved by Liberalti's wedding ring when she was spotted in Philly in fall 2019.

What James McAvoy's ex-wife has to say about their divorce? The former Shameless co-stars were always low-key about their relationship, and family matters when they were together raising their son, Brendon. Even after the divorce, the couple said little about their life.

It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce. We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love, and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son.

Nonetheless, in 2018, Anne-Marie Duff candidly reflected on her split from the Glasgow-born actor.

Divorce is a profound, difficult experience. It just is. It's a bit like you go to bed, and you wake up holding hands with a hurricane. And nobody gave you any storm warnings.

James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff seem to be on good terms, as they remained close friends while co-parenting their "biggest bond" and "main priority." She told the Telegraph:

There's a lot of goodwill between us. And we do still laugh all the time. I cannot imagine a time in my life when he doesn't make me belly laugh. We love being parents, and he's someone I'll respect, always.

The two celebs are even starring together in fantasy TV series, His Dark Materials.

Private life needs to stay personal, we guess. Although many Hollywood couples love to share all the details, sometimes, it's better to keep everything under the rug.
