Jeremy Clarkson's First Wife Left Him For His Best Friend After 6 Months Of Marriage, So He Got A Gag Order Against Her

Date December 12, 2019

Jeremy Clarkson and his first wife Alexandra James appeared to have a pretty strong relationship. According to New Idea, the couple tied the knot in 1989 after they dated for six years. They seemed to be on solid ground but their union wasn't to last.

Their marriage eventually ended after only six months when she broke up with him only to get into a relationship with his best friend Stephen Hall whom she eventually married. Getting divorced, especially in such scandalous circumstances must have stung but Jeremy Clarkson had to accept that it was all for the best.

Jeremy Clarkson's gag order

In October 2011, the Top Gear presenter revealed to The Independent that he had lifted the injunction which he previously took to prevent Alexandra from speaking about their marriage and anything to do with his private life.

At the time, the gag order had been effective for a year which meant Alexandra couldn't write about what went on their marriage. However, Jeremy decided it was time to lift it because, according to him, there was no point.

I've overturned my own injunction – how cool is that? Injunctions don't work, they're completely pointless and unbelievably expensive.

The TV personality said that Alexandra was free to say whatever she wanted and people could either choose to believe her or not.

Either way, it makes no difference to me, it's as simple as that. Frankly, I've got more important things to worry about than a woman I was married to for five minutes 30 years ago.

Shortly after the gag order was lifted, Alexandra opened up about her feelings for Jeremy. While labeling him as "a bully and a hypocrite," she also said that she was a good and loyal wife to him

I have never, ever let him down and have been a discreet, decent, loyal ex-wife who has never said a word to the papers, until now. But now I've had enough.

Alexandra had previously lifted the lid on their affair, insisting that they still loved each other despite being separated at the time.

A second divorce

Even though he appeared to have really moved on with Frances Cain, Jeremy's second marriage still didn't fare too well.

In 2015, he opened up to Piers Morgan about his plans to end his 21-year marriage. According to the UK Mirror, Jeremy allegedly told Piers that he was going through a "difficult divorce" which was taking its toll on him.

Alexandra also weighed in on the divorce matter while speaking to The Telegraph. She insisted that Frances deserved whatever she asked for because she was responsible for building his career.

She’s done her penance. It is her hard work that has made him into the idol he is today.

No doubt, Jeremy Clarkson had a really colorful dating and relationship history. There were some ups and downs but all that is water under the bridge now.

Is Jeremy Clarkson married today? As far as we know, the 59-year-old has remained a single man since his second divorce. But this doesn't necessarily mean he won't give marriage another chance though. His fans sure hope he finds lasting love and happiness someday.
