Elizabeth Banks’ kids are her pride and joy but they would not have been born if not for a surrogate, who is still in her children’s lives and is ‘like an auntie’ to them. But the actress claims she is being judged for her decision.
Elizabeth Banks’ family
Thanks to surrogacy, Elizabeth and her husband Max Handelman have two children, Felix and Magnus. The road to motherhood was long and difficult but no amount of criticism can change Banks’ opinion about surrogacy.
I definitely think I’m still judged for what I’ve done and that people don’t understand my choices, but I don’t feel I owe anybody any explanation. If my story helps people feel less alone on their journey, then I’m grateful for that.
My wonderful friend used surrogacy twice! I'm so ashamed of anyone who would judge that. I personally was lucky enough to have IVF work for my family but surrogacy was definitely a discussion. Shame on anyone who judges this.
@Lynn Paris Buckwinkler:
You certainly don’t have to give birth too be a parent. It is how you parent and give the child unconditional love no matter what. That is what makes a parent. I’ve seen many birth mother that are not a mothers.
So she had a surrogate, so what? My mom was adopted. That didn't make her parents less than parents.
I was a surrogate. No judgement here... being a mother is a beautiful thing no matter how you get there
That is no body’s business. Many people use surrogate for many reasons. Sometimes because they can’t carry the pregnancy to full term and have miscarriages.
Elizabeth Banks’ children are her top priority. The 45-year-old is a busy woman, who writes, acts, and produces, but spending time with her two sons is always at the top of her list. She wished to expand her family for so long and we are happy that she found a way to make it possible for her to become a mom.
