The remake of Baby, It's Cold Outside by John Legend and Kelly Clarkson has generated a lot of reactions online with many social media users saying they destroyed the song.

Controversial Christmas song

Back in 2018, the 1944 classic caused controversies during the holiday season. This is due to the lyrics of the Christmas song which many viewed as not appropriate and ignoring consent.

Several radio stations stopped playing the hit song last year after listeners raised objections to it. The song written by Frank Loesser has been debated for a number of years. However, the writer’s daughter Susan Loesser blamed Bill Cosby for the radio bans.

Baby It's Cold Outside lyrics

Now, the classic Christmas song has gotten an update from John Legend and Kelly Clarkson. The two singers teamed up to change the lyrics following the controversies.

John and Kelly recorded a remake of the 1944 classic for Legend’s upcoming deluxe album A Legendary Christmas.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the father of two shared some of the new lyrics:

Clarkson: "What will my friends think..."
Legend: "I think they should rejoice"
Clarkson: "...if I have one more drink?"
Legend: "It's your body, and your choice."

Sadly, not many people agree with the newly updated lyrics. Many are of the opinion that the singers should have left the song as it was, while others claim they destroyed it.
