Date December 2, 2019

Based on Donald Trump's recent news, the President of the United States and his family are really getting into the festive spirits.

For instance, Melania joined her husband as they hosted the annual turkey pardoning in honor of Thanksgiving. The FLOTUS used the opportunity to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving celebration.

We imagine preparations for Christmas are in full swing in the WhiteHouse at this point and fans can't wait to see how things turn out. But the First Family recently gave a glimpse into what Thanksgiving was like, though.

Donald Trump News For Today: POTUS Enjoys Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago

The President of the United States joined his family for a belated Thanksgiving dinner at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

Donald Trump and Melania Trump were joined by his sons Donald Jr. and Eric for this Thanksgiving occasion. On the actual Thanksgiving Day, the President served up food to Afghanistan troops.

Donald Trump Jr. shared a snap of his family on Instagram at the event which took place on the evening of Friday, November 29th, a day after Thanksgiving.

In the caption, Don Trump Jr. wrote:

Squad goals. Fun dinner with @realdonaldtrump and @FLOTUS last night.

The picture showed that apart from Eric and Trump Jr., Eric's wife Lara and Trump Jr.'s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle were also at the dinner.

However, a notable absentee was the President's daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared. It was reported that Ivanka could be spending Thanksgiving with Jared's family which could explain her absence.

A source revealed to the DailyMail that Donald Trump was in "high spirits" at the family dinner and people were happy to see him there.

People kept coming up to his table to say hello and wish him and his family a Happy Thanksgiving.

Before the dinner

Donald Trump's visit to Afghanistan to serve festive meals to the troops on Thanksgiving morning came as a surprise to the press and the public.

It was the POTUS's way of appreciating those who gave their service to the United States.

According to FOXNews, he told the troops that there was nowhere he'd rather spend the holidays than with the "toughest, fiercest warriors."

It was very selfless of Donald Trump to take such a trip to boost the spirits of the troops while also embodying what the holiday is really about. His celebration with his family a day later was also sweet as well. What a way to inspire kindness this joyous season!
