Michelle Obama Mocked For Saying Barack Could Build His Library "Anywhere" & They're Both Strategists

Date November 4, 2019

At the end of October, former President couple, Barack and Michelle Obama attended the 3rd annual Obama Foundation summit 2019. Young leaders from around the globe joined them to discuss how to bring positive change in their communities.

Some of the ex-First Lady's words in her speech have got her in virtual trouble.

During the event, Michelle discussed new renderings of the Presidential Center that will be established in the South of Chicago. The campus will include a public library, a plaza, and a playground. This project costs around $500 million and is planned along the lakefront, close to where the Becoming author grew up and Mr. Obama began his political journey.

The oozing confidence in the public's support

After reflecting on the selection of location, Jackson Park, Mrs. Obama got a little carried away. She put faith in the feeling that subjects still lobby for her husband as a leader, regardless of ethnicity.

Michelle claimed that Barack could build his presidential library "anywhere in the world". Because people believe him to be their president, a figure to ultimately look up to. She said:

New York wanted it. Hawaii wants it. Because it [the center] is also an economic engine.

The mum-of-two also mentioned how she and her husband calculate every move. Michelle admitted:

Barack and I don’t do things incidentally. There’s a strategy.

Social media users deem it narcissism

There are whole societies that are a gesture away from campaigning for Barack Obama again. Keeping that in mind, Michelle's remarks do make sense. Do you agree or you think that was really way out of line?
