No Love Lost Between Them: Meghan Markle Snubs President Donald Trump For The 2nd Time Amid Conflict Between The Two

Date November 29, 2019 12:28

Meghan Markle's recent news tells us that the Duchess of Sussex and her family are taking a break away from royal duties to gather themselves and spend time with loved ones.

In addition to staying away from the public, this move also means she can avoid contact with some people, perhaps, including Donald Trump. Meghan and the United States president don't have the best of relationships.

Before she became a royal, Meghan once described Trump as "misogynistic" and "divisive" during his 2016 campaign and Trump himself has referred to her as "nasty" while speaking to The Sun.

Considering this rift between the public personalities, people have been curious about whether they can ever be friendly and courteous to each other.

Meghan Markle dodges Donald Trump again

Some people were surprised by Harry and Meghan's news announcement that they're taking a six-week leave from royal appearances. While this coincides with many royal events, one that's obvious has to do with Trump's visit to Buckingham Palace.

The US President is expected to be in the palace on December 3 as Queen Elizabeth hosts NATO leaders. The banquet is specially organized in honor of the 70th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation alliance.

Usually, this would be one of those events that the Sussexes were expected to attend in addition to other members of the royal family, but since they are off duty, for now, they will most likely miss it.

This makes it the second time that Meghan Markle has somehow avoided a meeting with President Trump since she became a member of the royal family.

In June, Donald Trump and wife Melania attended a Buckingham Palace banquet but Meghan was unavailable at the time because she was on maternity leave following the birth of her first child Archie.

President defends Meghan

While we don't know if the Duchess of Sussex's opinion of the US president has changed, President Trump did extend an olive branch in October with a show of support for the royal mom.

Speaking to radio station LBC, President Trump said that he understood Meghan's issues with being scrutinized so intensely by the public and advised her not to take things too personally.

I guess you have to be a little bit different than that, but she takes it very, very personally. I can understand it.

The Duchess of Sussex sure has a lot on her plate right now. And despite her views about the President of the United States, it's possible that not meeting him could simply be a matter of coincidence. We doubt POTUS is too fussed about it, though.
