"It was the worst day of my life"

For a long time, Jessica Padgett dreaded what she would do on September 29. This was the day she was supposed to marry the love of her life, Kendall Murphy. Unfortunately, he passed away a year ago, and she wanted to do something to honor his memory.

Kendall, a volunteer firefighter, was killed by an alleged drink driver while he was rushing to help a crash victim. In a post she shared on LoveWhatMatters, Jessica revealed that she and Kendall met in July 2013. Three years later, he proposed to her and she said yes. The couple then set a date for September 29, 2018.

On November 10, 2017, Jessica was about heading to bed at around 10:05 p.m. when she got a call from her father, who revealed that her fiance had passed away. Kendall had received a call earlier that evening about an accident that happened not far from his house.

He decided to go and help. He had just parked his car and was attempting to cross to the other side of the road when he was hit.

He was hit by another alleged drunk driver, who was also a volunteer firefighter arriving to the scene. Kendall was immediately killed on November 10th, 2017, at 10:00 p.m.

Jessica described Kendall as the love of her life and her soulmate. So, on September 29th, 2018, on the day they were supposed to get married, she decided to do something to honor him and the love they shared. She got photographed in the wedding dress she's been planning to wear.

Mandi Knepp of Loving Life Photography was the one who took the touching images that day. Jessica wrote:

Having all my loving family and friends there to support and comfort me at this tragic time of my life means more than they will ever know. It was the worst day of my life, but they made my day very special.

Jessica remembered Kendall as a kind and happy family man. The couple often spent a lot of time with their family and always had a good time, Jessica revealed. "He will forever be in my heart," she said.
