For Didi Perry from Dallas, Texas, being a surrogate mother is not just a service, but an opportunity to spread joy and affect the lives of many families positively.
She decided to become a surrogate mother after 40
Didi, who’s also a mother to three kids decided to become a surrogate mother 16 years after the birth of her last child, a move that is rare among women over 40.
But contrary to her initial expectations, after she carried her first surrogate child, she was hooked to getting pregnant!
After the first pregnancy, Didi gained first-hand experience of seeing the joy that a baby brings to a mother who always wanted to have one and after the first one, she decided that it was her responsibility to do more.
At first I was only planning on carrying for one family, but after experiencing the pure joy, I knew it was something I'd do again.
Some surrogate mothers are attracted to the service for the money, status, or the experience but for Didi, her main motivation was the desire to give other families the beautiful gift of a child that she received with her own children.
I enjoyed being pregnant with my own kids and I wanted to do something that would help someone else… I was never in it for the money. I really just wanted to help these families.
But her reasons do not end there since she added that pregnancy gave her something that she could not find anywhere else.
I love how healthy I feel when I'm pregnant and I love the feeling of the baby moving around.

For Didi, being able to carry a child even if they belong to other women is rewarding, since the feeling is unique and irreplaceable. Within ten years, she was able to carry and deliver five children by gestational surrogacy – an opportunity that had more value for her than money.
Didi urges other women to become surrogates
While Didi chose to retire from being a surrogate mother after 50, she continued with her passion and now, she works with Surrogate Solutions Inc. where she continues to bring joy to many families. Sharing on her new roles of helping other families and surrogates, she said:
I absolutely love it. I'm not the one having the babies anymore, but I'm still involved in helping to form families.
Well, it is no secret that Didi has built a great legacy for herself and other fortunate families that have always dreamt of having children of their own.
And since the apple does not fall far from the tree, Didi’s youngest daughter Shayna desires to become a surrogate herself, since she was inspired by what her mother did. She is truly inspirational, and her mark on the world is monumental.
