Family is the most important thing in our lives. People say that at the end of the road, when they look back at all the memories, time with the family is the first and happiest thing that comes to mind.

One mom wanted to stick around long enough to witness one more important moment with her son. And she got it.

The last wish

Stephanie Northcott, a terminal cancer patient, wanted to see her son graduate high school as her final wish. The Tennessee mom couldn't leave the hospital bed, so the Halls High School made necessary adjustments to make sure Stephanie could be there.

Although Dalton Christopher, Stephanie's son, was granted his graduation early, the school board did everything to make the occasion special. They decorated the halls, and Dalton's classmates even dressed in their graduation gowns.

No one could hide their tears of happiness when Stephanie was able to share a dance with her son to celebrate his special day. Northcott's sister taped the entire ceremony on her phone, so that Dalton can always look back on this wonderful moment with his mom.

Surprisingly, there's a similar story. Last year, a daughter graduated from high school during the ceremony organized in her dying mom's hospital room. The mother has passed away days after seeing this milestone, which was her dying wish.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Stephanie Northcott at this heartbreaking time.
