This was the plight of Samantha Rodriguez after both her parents passed away. Her mother, Lisa Smith, died from cervical cancer in 2013, and her father succumbed to lymphoma three years later.

Instead of running away from the burden of caring for her five younger siblings, Samantha stepped up. Luckily, local donors noticed her consistency and hard work and decided to ease her load with the gift of a car.

$100,000 donation to Samantha

Samantha's story and courage keep touching people's heart, and this time, it has gotten her more help. When PEOPLE published Samantha's story, many internet users were moved by how much she had to handle at such a young age.

Samantha has to juggle taking care of her siblings, booking their doctors appointment, and managing her job as a waitress at a local restaurant.

A GoFundMe page was set up on April 11, 2019, to help Samantha ease her financial burdens and at first, $38,000 was raised by neighbours, friends, and strangers.

Now, that number has increased beyond Samantha's imagination. A whopping $100,478 has been donated, and every day, they get closer to the goal of $150,000.

While speaking to PEOPLE, Samantha admitted that she was blown away by the response and support of people she never even knew.

In her latest update on the GoFundMe page, Samantha wrote:

"It amazes me to see how much people have come together to help me and my family and to see how many good-hearted people are out there! In just 6 days, we have reached an incredible amount. This help has changed my life and took so much off my plate."
