The most dangerous thing about lung cancer is that it does not show any signs or symptoms in its early stages, so it is often discovered when it has already advanced.

However, in its advanced stages, some symptoms include coughing up blood, shortness of breath, chest pain and weight loss.

Abigail Rose Arias’s story

Young Abigail was already in the fourth stage of a Wilms Tumor in her lung when it was detected, and she was just four years old then.

She went through 80 rounds of chemotherapy to shrink and remove the tumor, and it almost killed her. The cancer then lay in remission for about five months before it then spread to both her lungs.

As of now, the doctors say that they do not know of treatment, drugs or procedure that can save the life of little Abigail. However, Abigail was fearless, she wanted to fulfill her dream of being a cop!

Around Christmas, the Arias family met with the Freeport Police Chief Ray Garvey, who bonded with Abigail the moment she told him her dream.

He said to News Agency KHOU11:

“She said she wanted to be a police officer. I looked back at her dad and said she probably shouldn’t have told me that. He kind of winked at me, and I said we’re going to make that happen.”

And it did happen.

Abigail was sworn in as a police officer, and within 18 minutes of being made an officer, she was sworn in as a chief at the Freemont Police Department.

Badge number 758, Abigail, pledged:

“I promise to keep fighting the bad guys until all my cancer is gone.”

Ways to prevent lung cancer

Can lung cancer be prevented? Yes, it can. Here are some tips to help you achieve that:

1. First, stop smoking! Although lung cancer also occurs in nonsmokers, smoking greatly increases the chances of getting cancer of the lungs.
