Gone Viral: Woman Stops To Breastfeed Her 3-Month-Old Baby - In The Middle Of Grueling 106-Mile Marathon

Despite the many broken boundaries offered by the modern world, breastfeeding is still considered to be a controversial topic. While it’s the healthiest option for both mother and a baby, women are discouraged from breastfeeding mainly because of the stigma that surrounds it.

However, many mothers are stepping up and fight for the right to feed their babies when they need to. One British woman became a role model for many by showing to the world that there is nothing to be ashamed of and when nature calls, you’ve got to answer.

Breastfeeding in the middle of a marathon

Mother-of-two Sophie Power was taking part in a 106-mile marathon at Mont-Blanc, France. She was about 16 hours in of a 43-hour race when she first got a chance to feed her three-month-old baby at a rest stop.

The moment was captured by Strava’s photographer and later posted on its social media account. Unsurprisingly, the image quickly became viral. In its caption, Strava described it as

a story of motherhood, endurance, and the strength of the human body.

Power admitted she felt nervous about participating in the race so soon after giving birth, but she made sure she was well prepared for it.

The Londoner did weight-training and low-impact cardio when she was pregnant but had to take a break after giving birth. After almost eight weeks, she resumed her training.

Sophie finished the race in 43 hours and 33 minutes. She says she was inspired by her 3-year-old son, who really wanted to run to the finish line with her.
