Graphic Novelist Gruesomely Tortured And Murdered His Fiancée Next To Their Newborn Baby Girl
Details of how Canadian graphic novelist Blake Leibel brutally tortured and murdered the mother of his newborn daughter are highly disturbing and chilling. This case shows that monsters can live among us, and some people are capable of beyond horrific actions.
Blake Leibel is a son of wealthy parents, who found his calling writing graphic novels. He didn't become successful with his art but was living comfortably on allowance in West Hollywood.
In 2016, Leibel's fiancée, Ukrainian-born Iana Kasian, gave birth to their baby daughter. This was supposed to be happy times for the family, but the novelist had other plans in mind.
Just a few weeks after baby's birth, Kasian's mother reported her daughter missing when Iana wasn't returning her calls and texts. It took police a lot of convincing, but they finally arrived at the apartment Kasian and Leibel shared together and found a scene of the gruesome murder.
Kasian's body was found on the bed, scalped, and drained of all blood. Her remains were found around the room as well in trash bags in the basement.
What's even more terrifying, Leibel was laying next to Iana's body, and their baby girl was just a few feet away from her dead mother.
Justice is served
Blake Leibel faced court for the murder of 30-year-old Iana Kasian and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The trial included a heartbreaking statement from the prosecutor:
This was depravity. Ms. Kasian died a slow and painful death. Her daughter will never know her, and that’s because of the unconscionable acts you heard about during this trial.
We hope Iana Kasian's daughter will be cared for and grows up in a safe environment.
