Why did this happen?

The boys, all students of Pea Ridge High School, were captured on camera punching and kicking the victim repeatedly while he was on the ground.

And although their motives remain unclear, an officer from the Pea Ridge Police Department has said that they were strictly out to bully and intimidate their victim.

The school may have a problem

Eight of the perpetrators identified in the video are now facing criminal charges of varying degrees, and the boy’s mother is disheartened. She told Fox 16, "I am just so angry and so sick to my stomach," adding that her son is afraid to return to school.

This case is not the first reported incident at Pea Ridge High School. In 2010, a latino woman went public with claims that her daughters had been repeatedly called racial slurs by their fellow students.

At the time, the school had insisted that the woman’s claims of discrimination were false, but now, they may have to step up, as people online are calling for justice, not just a slap on the wrist.
