But the worse thing is when your child is bullied by a teacher. Sound too weird to believe, doesn’t it? This woman also couldn’t believe until she saw it with her own eyes.

Jo Grayson from Kentucky was outraged over a video of a teacher grabbing her 11-year-old son through the school hallway.

Thatcher has autism and is nonverbal. While parents think the school staff should treat the kids with a special condition in a special way, some teachers apparently have another opinion.

Mrs. Grayson found out about the incident via a text message from the school. Obviously, they were too busy to talk to the mother in person. The school administration told Grayson about a ‘misunderstanding’ that occurred to her son.

When the woman saw the video, she got furious.

It was terrible because it’s my child. I mean, I don’t understand how anybody could do that to any child, regardless of whether or not they have a disability.

School’s reaction

Mrs. Grayson was told that the incident occurred because her son refused to stand up in a class. The school administration refused to reveal the details of the case. However, they stressed in a statement:

Our training is very explicit that physical restraint is a last resort only to be used when a student is a danger to themselves or others.

As for the bully teacher, the school said: “she is no longer an employee.”

The boy’s mother explained she is not going to let go the situation so easy and is planning to sue the teacher.

We just hope her 11-year-old son will forget about this horrible case, and it won’t ruin his impression about the educational system in general.

Bullying at school: how to protect your child

Here is a guideline for parents with useful tips that can help protect children from bullying:

1. Get acquainted with your child’s teachers and other school staff.

2. Communicate with other parents from your kid’s class.

3.  If your child shows no desire or even fear to go to school on a regular basis, it may be an alarming sign he/she suffers from bullying.

4. Pay attention to the kid’s emotions while asking about his/her success in school.

5. Kids often do not realize what bullying actually means. Try to explain it to the child.
