Troy Dean Osmond, son of The Osmonds legend Merrill Osmond, has died at the age of 33. Troy played cello as part of the Red Rock Strings Utah quartet.
He inherited his family’s love of music and much like them, turned it into a career. The youngest son of Merrill Osmond began learning to play the piano and cello at age 5, and at age 12 he began learning the organ too. Prior to his death, Troy gave piano, cello and organ lessons.
Merrill shared news of his son’s death in a poignant Facebook message on November 9, 2018, telling his fans:
“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we have to announce our precious son, Troy Dean, passed away earlier today.”
Sadly, there have been a lot of speculations around Troy's unexpected death.
According to Radar Online, Donny and Marie Osmond's nephew was discovered "motionless" in his parents' Utah home. He reportedly suffered from drug addiction and his skin was described as purple and blue in color as he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While multiple people believed this information, the man's parents could not keep silent about the truth.
Merrill Osmond made a statement on his Facebook page condemning all the rumors and speculations:
In addition, Troy's famous aunt shared that he had had an illness since he was 9 years old and that he had died in his sleep after enduring many years of pain.
"Although I am grateful he isn't suffering any longer, his loss has left a huge hole for our family,"
- she stated in a lengthy post.
It's a pity that the family had to encounter the unpleasant rumors during this difficult time. Let's be kinder and more tolerant of each other.
