Sad statistics

More and more kids die in hot vehicles every year. According to CNN and ‘Kids and Cars’ organization, this number equals to 37 deaths in the US per year. July and August are usually the ‘deadliest’ months.

Leaving children unattended in vehicles is not just very dangerous, it can be fatal in most cases. The weirdest thing is that adults do not forget their gadgets and other ‘important stuff’ in a car, but they can easily leave a child inside a hot vehicle. It’s hard to believe, but it’s true!

The reason is a deep stress

More often we see people feeling overwhelmed because of the pressures that they face as part of modern life. For most of us, stress has become an inevitable part of daily routine.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 40 million adults in the US are affected by stress, anxiety, and depression-related disorders. This number grows every year.

So, maybe, the community should not judge the parents who accidentally forget their children for hours too strictly? What do you think?

Recent case

Several months ago, Fabiosa published a post about a 9-month-old baby that died after being left unattended in a hot car in Texas. The temperature outside was about 90 degrees at that time, and the poor baby spent several hours ‘melting’ on the heat. The story has a tragic ending.

For such parents, we have this guide to learn by hard. Maybe, some of these tips can help them not forget their children in hot vehicles.

1. Don't be tempted to let your child continue sleeping in a car after you have arrived at your destination.

2. Even if it's a cloudy and rainy day, never leave your child unattended in a vehicle. Cars can heat up 20 degrees in 10 minutes.

3. Put your purse or phone next to your child's car seat to make sure you won’t forget your baby while looking for your stuff.

4. Place a ‘baby on board’ sign in front of you, so that you can see it every time when leaving a car.

Of course, parents who leave their kids in a car knowingly act inappropriately. But experts say a lot of parents do that accidentally while being in a deep stress, and they suffer enough already. It’s a pretty controversial opinion.
