Many of us think there’s no big deal in domestic violence, that it’s simply a “family matter.” People always fight and argue. In most relationships someone dominates, and the other one submits. However, things aren’t that simple and definitely require analysis. You see, when an intimate partner murders their loved one, that’s surely not all right. Similarly, if one person asserts dominance and full control over their partner’s life, isolates them from their friends and family, consistently harming their self-esteem, a few people would view such relationship as healthy.

That is what the most common type of domestic violence looks like. It usually slowly escalates to the point of physical and sexual abuse, or worse – a murder. Domestic violence is a huge issue not only due to its prevalence, but also because of its absolutely devastating effects on both victims and perpetrators, as well as on the society in general. Let’s look at the most common negative effects of domestic violence.
