63-year-old Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is happy to be a father of three kids under age of six. The amazing experience of bringing up his own children makes him forget the youth tragedies of losing his close people one after another.

Tragic youth years

Kelsey probably had the severest childhood in the entire Hollywood world. Everything began at the age of two. His parents split up, and Kelsey was growing up together with his mother. His grandfather died when little Grammer was just 11. The tragic loss was followed by his father’s murder two years after that.

Frank Grammer was shot by a mentally incompetent man who was sent to a psychiatric clinic. Seven years after that, Kelsey’s sister Karen was horribly raped and stabbed by the group of men to be left bleed to death. The nightmares didn’t end in Kelsey’s life though. Five years after that, Grammer’s two half-brothers were announced dead in a scuba-diving event with only one body having been found. Horrible youth years, just horrible.

Happy parenthood

Luckily, Kelsey obtained something that helped him distract from the tragic childhood. His family, and kids, in particular, gave him a real reason to live and even made him feel much younger.

He is now 63, but his three children under age of six, messing around the house, keep him lively and active:

It's fantastic — the energy is magnificent. I'm as young as they are.

This is the fourth marriage for Kelsey, and altogether he is now a happy father of seven.

Can't hide

Regardless of how sweet his life is now, the bitter past will forever echo in Kelsey’s memories. In his 2015 interview, Mr. Grammer mentioned about the lost sister and said he forgave the assaulters, particularly the one who stabbed Karen.

Moreover, he claimed he forgave himself, as though all these years he had been blaming only one person in the horrible tragedy – himself:

I know a lot of people who’ve lost their siblings and blame themselves. It’s hard to explain. It’s not rational. But it happens anyway.

He lost almost the entire family due to the unfortunate obstacles but managed to stay strong enough to become a successful actor and a beloved father.
