Country Singer Rory Feek Had A Difficult Time Accepting His Gay Daughter Because Of His Faith

Rory Feek never imagined that his faith would be tested to its limits by someone he’d promised to love no matter what. But it was, and now, he’s better for it.
The country musician lost his wife of 14 years and music partner, Joey, to cancer in 2016. Their marriage was blessed with daughter, Indiana, who is 4 and lives with Down's syndrome.
But, before Rory met his late wife, he had two grown daughters, Hopie and Heidi, from a previous marriage.
Coming to terms with Hopie’s sexuality
In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the dad of three came clean about dealing with his daughter’s sexuality. According to him, he found out that Hopie was gay just after his wife’s death.
When he sensed that she had something to tell him, he encouraged her to open up. This was how he came to learn that she was gay.
my lilsis Hopie and her fiancé Wendy bought a house here in Florence today...this is from when they got engaged...idk if u can tell that I approve or not but I do. 😍😍😍 Im so pumped that we are both here in Alabama and I hope we can convince all our friends and fam to move here and take over the whole town.
Rory says his first instinct was to stand by his anti-gay conservative faith. But, he chose instead to stand by love.
“My job is to love her even when it’s hard”, Rory says about the decision he chose to stick with concerning his daughter’s sexuality.
It’s refreshing to see people of faith stand up for love. We hope that Rory’s example will inspire more conservative Christians to choose love.
