During his hospital stays, Ashton met other ill kids and got inspired to

write a book to make people in the hospital feel better.

In the book, titled “How I Became A Superhero,” Ashton described his own experience, hoping to help other kids. He wrote and illustrated it himself!

The boy also helps raise money for Ronald McDonald House at National Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Ashton gets a surprise visit

In August, Ashton underwent a major surgery to help his kidneys function better. During his recovery, he said to the nurse he wanted the President to have a copy of his book, WOAY-TV reported.

Imagine the boy’s surprise when President Trump showed up in the hospital in person, along with First Lady Melania Trump!

We’ve long known that the First Lady is passionate about helping children, and now, we see her husband is willing to help, too.

Ashton's impression

In an interview with WOAY-TV’s Dylan Fearson, Ashton shared his impression from the meeting:

After I met President and the first Lady I realized they are really kind people and they like people and kids just like me. And don’t believe all the bad things on the news.

President Trump and his wife Melania Trump got the book, and they gave Ashton a few presents.

When Fearson asked Ashton what was the one thing President Trump said that stuck with him since that visit, the boy replied:

He said I’m an entrepreneur. He said I’m just like him.

That’s typical Trump for you! Joking aside, in this story we get to see the one side Trump rarely shows – his kindness and compassion. If only we could see it more often…
