Lighter And Loving It: "Australian Idol" Casey Donovan Shares Her Incredible Weight Loss Story
Casey Donovan was born in New South Wales into a family with musical roots. Her father and his brothers sang together in a country band, The Donovans. She also picked interest in music, singing and learning how to play the guitar.
By the time she entered Condell Park High, it was evident she had a talent for music, and her family gave her a lot of support. She got a transfer to the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney and soon after auditioned for Australian Idol, Season 2. In November 2004, Donovan was announced as the winner of the singing competition, beating favorite Anthony Callea.
Donovan had struggled with her weight for many years, but last year, she seemed to be on a winning streak. In an exclusive interview with Women’s Day, she spoke about her amazing weight loss journey. In all, she shed about 79 pounds (36 kilograms).
Its going really well, and I'm taking time to focus on myself. At the end of the day, it's just about being happy and living life to the fullest as much as you can.
But losing weight has not been a run in the park for Donovan. She confessed that some days were much easier than others, and staying motivated to a routine did come with several challenges. But somehow, she set her mind on her goal and powered through.
It's bloody hard. It's hard work. Somedays you're amazing, somedays you're not, it's about getting up and being accountable for what you've done.
Donovan’s weight loss journey was in some part kick-started when she appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2017, and she has not looked back since. So, what is her weight loss secret? Well, it is a lot simpler than most people believe.
I mean, I love my walks. I love getting up and clearing my head and pushing myself, but I guess my advice would be to others wanting to get in shape is: Sh*t happens, but just get up and keep going.

But that is not all. Besides working out and walking, Donovan still gets a lot of support from family, friends, and even her fans on social media. And her motto is that loving yourself is the most important thing of all, no matter what you weigh.
