Effective Makeup Techniques For Older Women From Professional Makeup Artists

Date November 14, 2018 17:50

Over the years, our skin becomes not so fresh and elastic as it was during our 20s. Therefore, we should change the way we take care of it so we could look young longer. And it is necessary to know certain makeup secrets for mature skin.

First of all, it is important to know the right way to prepare mature skin for the makeup. It includes several steps:

1. Cleanse

According to experts’ opinion, it is the first step in achieving the flawless makeup complexion.

2. Exfoliate

Though, don’t do it too often, as it can only be done twice per week. Dead skin cells should build up before you can exfoliate them.

3. Treat & Moisturize

When the skin is healthy and well-hydrated, it prevents any makeup flaking and rough patches.

4. Prime

Primers are really beneficial and help your makeup last longer.

Okay, we are done with the skin preparation. But what about the makeup itself?

David De Leon, a makeup artist, says:

For me, to get a great result on an older woman, age is not what I see. I look for her potential.

Experts also add that makeup application techniques may start failing as one’s skin changes over time.

Makeup artist Caroline Dali gave certain good makeup tips for older women.

Her first advice is:

Eyebrows thin over time. Fill them in, but not with a pencil. A powder will look more like the real thing.

For eyeliner, Caroline suggest stapping a black eye shadow directly on the lash line.

Caroline also says:

Both concealer and foundation should have a sheen to them. If you have a line, say a smile line that you want to cover, light reflection will blur it.

And what about lips? Here is what Caroline offers:

Use an angled lip brush to apply lipstick. It really allows you to get into the small folds and to be precise, which is important as lips get fine wrinkles along the edges.

In conclusion, we can say that we get better over time. So our makeup and the way we treat our skin should become better too.
