Small Yet Effective: Houshold Item That Can Save Your Child's Life In A School Shooting

Date June 8, 2018

There aren’t many things you can do to protect your child at school. This definitely frightens every decent parent in light of all the recent mass shootings in the U.S. But when it comes to safety for our children, we have to take all possible measures. One of such is a simple doorstop, which can prevent a mad school shooter from entering the room with your child, or at the very least buy some time for the police to arrive.

Katie Cornelis got a simple tip

The security expert revealed a simple trick to her and Katie is willing to share it with everyone. She gave her both nieces a possibly life-saving item to always keep in their backpacks. Although it was hard, and she didn’t want to scare them, the woman had been informed how sometimes vital a doorstop can be.

It truly pained me when I handed it to them, and I didn’t want to scare them, but it was out of love and they understood.

Imagine the students had this item on February 14. It could’ve saved so many people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on that fatal day. The woman continued with:

If a gunman shoots out the door lock it will still keep the door from opening and may just buy you some time. I’m really sad posting this but a security expert shared this tip with me so I wanted to pass it on. I pray no one ever has to use it.

Cheap and effective device

Experts agree that a doorstop is an essential item in your backpack or purse. It is extremely cheap and can save you even in a terrorist attack. David Klain, a travel expert, is pretty sure that a doorstop is the best security device. He explained that in the case of a terrorist attack or lone shooter, typically they go through every room in the building or on the floor. But they most likely move on to other rooms, if they can't get one of the doors open, before working their way back and try to open the closed rooms.

We really hope no one ever has to use a doorstop. Nonetheless, we are sure this item is highly effective and worth having in your bag all the time.
