On trains, passengers can pre-book seats for commutes to various locations but at times, plans might change. When a passenger doesn’t get on the train they had made reservations on, the seats still remain marked.

Many times, other passengers can sit in reserved seats when they are not occupied.

Elderly couple on a train "hijacked" seats a mom had reserved

This woman and her kids found themselves in a quandary after an elderly couple occupied their seats and adamantly declared that reservations “didn’t matter.” The mom of 3, who had booked 4 seats so her kids could do their homework on the train got furious after the elderly couple refused to acquiesce to her appeals.

Posting a picture of her 3 children sharing 2 seats, albeit uncomfortably, the mom grieved that nothing is as disappointing as missing seats on a full carriage after making reservations.

"Don't be these people," was her only prayer, after undergoing an unfortunate experience that many travelers know too well.

Reportedly, the elderly couple on the train seat situation had no intention of handing over the seat and “refused to make eye contact” the whole time.

Luckily, after speaking to a very apologetic conductor, the woman and her kids were moved to first class. The family continued to enjoy a peaceful commute on the CrossCountry train from Cheltenham to Nottingham.
