Cancer has always been known as a terrible disease that takes people’s lives. However, in the modern world, the survival rate gets higher and higher. In 2011, over half of the patients diagnosed with cancer survive the disease for 10 or more years in the UK only.

There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing a child surprised by their cancer-stricken parent with the happy news about their full recovery.

The happiest little girl in the world

8-year-old Maisy had never spent a night away from her dad Chris. Sadly, he was hospitalized to have his bladder removed.

The 43-year-old was diagnosed with bladder cancer but the disease kept returning every three months despite the numerous chemo treatments for 6 years. When the new tumor was found, Chris decided to have cystectomy.

The doting dad had to spend two weeks in the hospital after the nine-hour operation. Luckily, he fully recovered in just 9 days and the doctors allowed him to return home to his daughter.

Chris decided to surprise Maisy and when she returned from school, he hid in the living room. His wife Sharon told the 8-year-old to check for new updates from dad. Chris sent her a photo of himself lying on the sofa and asking for a hug.

Watch Maisy’s reaction below:

Social media users are crying as well

@Julie Wiles:

Beautiful with tears of happiness

@Amy Fenton:

The most amazing video I've ever watched

@Isobel Johnson:

God bless her glad you are home xx

@Kelly Weldon:

Crying into my cup of tea here!

Chris later commented:

She completely broke down, I had never seen her like that before. I broke down as well, I had never ever felt anyone show so much love towards me.

Little Maisy said she’s the ‘happiest girl in the world’ and we can’t help but be happy for her and her family, too.
