Dish Soap Soak

This recipe works best on silver and gold jewelry.

Mild dish soap is perfect for cleaning jewelry or your engagement ring.

What you’ll need:

For this DIY cleaner, you will need mild dish soap, a bowl of warm water, a soft-bristled toothbrush, and a lint-free cloth.

Steps:

  • Squirt a small amount of dish soap into a bowl of warm water.
  • Let the piece of jewelry sit in the soapy mixture for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to lightly brush away dirt from the setting, stones, or anywhere else where grime has collected.
  • Rinse with warm water.
  • Dry the jewelry with a microfiber or lint-free cloth.

Aluminum Foil Soak

What you’ll need:

1 tbsp salt, 1 tbsp baking soda, 1 tbsp dishwashing liquid, 1 cup water and Aluminium foil.

Steps:

  • Heat the water in the microwave for a minute or two.
  • Cut the foil to fit the bottom of a small bowl and place it inside the bowl.
  • Press it down.
  • Pour the hot water into the bowl and add the salt, soap and baking soda.
  • Give it a stir before you place your jewelry onto the foil.

  • Let it sit for eight to 10 minutes.
  • Rinse your jewelry under cold running water and dry it with a soft cloth.
