Staying motivated to keep going is an important part of staying on track. And stories of people who have achieved success in this regard will always serve as a much-needed inspiration.

Kara Beck's weight loss transformation

For as long as she could remember, Kara Beck has been made to feel bad about her weight.

In an interview with TODAY, Kara revealed that she would often hear boys mutter the words "fat" under their breath when she passed by and a friend actually called her a "red cow" behind her.

She revealed that the bullying intensified when she turned 12 and things got so bad that she simply tried to avoid situations that would provoke harsh words being said to her.

Since kindergarten, Kara was always heavier than most of her peers and as she grew older, food became a comfort for the emotional pain she experienced from being bullied so much.

The bullying was just damaging my psyche, at this point, and creating this really unhealthy self-image and relationship to my body. That turned into my bad relationship with food.

She got married to her husband Nathan when she was 19 and by the time they learned she was pregnant, Kara weighed about 330 pounds. When her baby was born in 2017, the mom weighed in at 368 pounds.

At this point, Kara decided it was time to make a change. She started by undergoing a gastric bypass surgery but maintaining a healthy weight took a lot of work.

She tweaked her eating and exercise habits and the extra weight soon melted away. She went from 368 pounds to 163 pounds, which comes to over 200-pound weight loss.

Kara Beck is very proud of what she has been able to achieve so far. She has adopted new lifestyle habits of eating healthy meals and exercising regularly.
