  • May lower blood sugar levels and fights diabetes
  • May improve heart health and lower cholesterol

  • And last but not least that apple cider vinegar may help you lose weight.

According to a 2018 report in the Journal of Functional Foods, apple cider vinegar, when part of a restricted-calorie diet, “can be considered as an effective strategy” for reducing visceral fat and helping in a few other health issues.

Harvard Medical School experts also point to information that suggests a possible link between vinegar and weight loss.

Apple cider vinegar may have some benefits, but people should also be wary of its possible side effects.

Side effects of apple cider vinegar

  • Tooth problems

Due to the acidic nature of apple cider vinegar, it may cause tooth enamel decay, then cavities, and then fillings. The risk is highest when a person regularly consumes undiluted apple cider vinegar.

  • Stomach issues

Apple cider vinegar can lead to bloating, nausea, vomiting, and can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar.

  • Low levels of potassium

The consumption of ACV may cause potassium levels to drop too low. Since your muscles and nerves need potassium to function properly, this could be problematic.

Other possible negative sides of consuming vinegar include:

  • Decreased Mineral Levels
  • Gastrointestinal Problems

Vinegar is used in cooking, baking, and salad dressings and as a preservative. There’s a lot of acid in it, so drinking vinegar straight isn’t recommended.
