Scaling a building like Spider-man

A man in Philadelphia made the news when he scaled a burning 19-story building just to get to his bedridden mother.

Witnesses who saw him initially assume he was jumping the building to escape the flames but that wasn't the case.

According to CNN, the man, simply identified at Jermaine, was trying to reach the 15th floor. And he managed to pull off such an impressive stunt even with an injured hip.

The 35-year-old said he received a call from his sister that their mother's apartment building was on fire and the woman couldn't make her way out. Jermaine immediately rushed to the scene but when he tried entering through the front door, he discovered it was blocked by the police.

They informed him that the elevators weren't working and they couldn't allow him to take the stairs. The determined man knew what he had to do.

I took it upon myself because that's my mother. There's no limits. That's my mother.

Even though he had hurt his hip earlier that day, Jermaine managed to climb the fenced-in balconies and gradually made his way to his destination. He said he was more worried about his mother's safety than his.

She can't get out of the bed or walk around, so if there's a fire, she needs help out.

He eventually made it to his mother and was relieved to find that she was okay. The fire was also soon contained.

Praises for his bravery

Internet users applauded Jermaine's courage and understood how worried he must have felt for his mother.

The good news is that neither Jermaine nor his mother was hurt. And he did prove himself to be a truly devoted son.
