'When I'm 69, I Am Limited': Desperate Old Man Sues Government To Legally Change His Age To 49

Date November 9, 2018 10:07

Staying true to oneself is getting harder and harder in today's society. Some people have outdone themselves in trying to find a way around it. The result of that? Dumbfound!

For most of us, it's common knowledge that a person can change his birth name but not birthdate. The day and year on the birth certificate are solely recorded for life-long identification purposes. The year is a vital block at the foundation and removing or changing it will disorientate the whole system of documental history. Because of this reason, it is therefore considered a fraud to alter it or falsely imprint your birthday.

The only exception for it to be amended is when the birth date was recorded incorrectly. But time has come, when we witness these basic things to be challenged by people's own will!

The Dutchman, 69 sued authorities to change his age

Emile Ratelband filed a lawsuit against the Dutch government to change his birth year. He wants to go 20 years younger to get more dating possibilities changing every official document from March 11, 1949, to 1969. The 69-year-old entrepreneur from the Netherlands strives to change his age to 49 so he can also do a steady job again.

Although totally incomparable, he debated that if transgender people can change their sex officially, he should be allowed to change his birth year at least. According to Telegraph UK, his case can hold a factual ground when he said:

I have done a check-up and what does it show? My biological age is 45 years.

He also added this to solidify his matter:

When I'm 69, I am limited. If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work.

This complicated scenario has stirred controversy in his homeland where people are doubting his sanity. In Arnhem, a court is piling evidence to announce its decision on Emile's age within four weeks. Fingers crossed!
