White Woman Who Called The Cops On 8-Year-Old Black Girl Selling Water Gets Death Threats In Her Mail
A white woman in San Francisco has brought the issue of racism to the forefront again. Alison Ettel — dubbed online as “Permit Patty” apparently called the police on an 8-year-old girl who was selling cold water to raise money for a ticket to Disneyland.
Jordan Rodgers, an African-American child was the subject of Ettel’s report and her mother captured the entire incident on a cellphone. Ettel claimed that the little girl had been shouting and disturbing her. She shared her story with NBC News.
I tried to be polite, but I was stern. And I said, ‘Please, I’m trying to work. You’re screaming, you’re yelling, and people have open windows — it’s a hot day. Please keep it down.’
Since Jordan’s mother shared the video online, millions of people have viewed and shared it. Most of the reactions have not been pleasant for Ettel. Observers have condemned her actions, suggestive it was racist and very unfair to the little girl.
The lady getting death threats now Smh it’s her fault getting into that mess in first place! If only she stuck her nose out of other people’s business she wouldn’t even be in that mess from the start! Little girl smart selling water when it’s hot outside! #PermitPatty— SunShine_Swiss (@SunShine_Swiss) June 26, 2018
Now Ettel is crying out on social media saying different people have attacked her constantly. Some have even sent death threats to her email after the incident. After the incident, she apologized for her actions, saying she did not handle the situation well.
It was stupid. I completely regret that I handled that so poorly. It was completely stress-related, and I should have never confronted her. That was a mistake, a complete mistake. Please don’t make me sound horrible.
According to Huffington Post, she says she now feels “discriminated against”. Jordan was trying to raise money for the ticket, as her mother who recently lost her job, was unable to afford one.

Reports say the police never showed up, bringing the question, did Ettel even call them to begin with, or she just pretended to in order to scare the little girl away?
Some other observers find it ironic that Ettel who runs a medicinal marijuana business would have issues with a little girl selling water. It has been suggested that her outfit may be operating outside the borders of the law and nobody seems to have called her out for it.
I still can’t get over #PermitPatty who sells weed for dogs for a living and has time to call cops on little black girls selling water on the street. 🤦🏻♀️— Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) June 24, 2018
What kind of country do we live in where a white woman fortunate enough to make a living selling something as ridiculous as marijuana doggie treats calls the cops on a little black girl trying to be entrepreneurial herself by selling water? So effed up. #PermitPatty— Adam Best (@adamcbest) June 24, 2018
The next time you talk about all the “poor, redneck racists” remember #AlisonEttel, the California living, granola-kale chip eating, dog loving, pot brownie making white woman who called police on an 8 year old black girl for selling bottled water. pic.twitter.com/4fgCQeYuXI— Ainsley LambertSwain (@_SocSpecialist_) June 23, 2018
Meanwhile, Ettell has shut down her personal Facebook and Instagram accounts but continues to manage her business account, despite losing customers.
Also she's out there again today. In the same spot ❤️ pic.twitter.com/jn15vSABZC— Raj 🌹 (@_ethiopiangold) June 24, 2018
A day after, Jordan returned to the same spot and continued selling her water. Hopefully, she will raise the money she needs for her ticket.
