A white woman in San Francisco has brought the issue of racism to the forefront again. Alison Ettel — dubbed online as “Permit Patty” apparently called the police on an 8-year-old girl who was selling cold water to raise money for a ticket to Disneyland.

Jordan Rodgers, an African-American child was the subject of Ettel’s report and her mother captured the entire incident on a cellphone. Ettel claimed that the little girl had been shouting and disturbing her. She shared her story with NBC News.

I tried to be polite, but I was stern. And I said, ‘Please, I’m trying to work. You’re screaming, you’re yelling, and people have open windows — it’s a hot day. Please keep it down.’

Since Jordan’s mother shared the video online, millions of people have viewed and shared it. Most of the reactions have not been pleasant for Ettel. Observers have condemned her actions, suggestive it was racist and very unfair to the little girl.

Now Ettel is crying out on social media saying different people have attacked her constantly. Some have even sent death threats to her email after the incident. After the incident, she apologized for her actions, saying she did not handle the situation well.

It was stupid. I completely regret that I handled that so poorly. It was completely stress-related, and I should have never confronted her. That was a mistake, a complete mistake. Please don’t make me sound horrible.

According to Huffington Post, she says she now feels “discriminated against”. Jordan was trying to raise money for the ticket, as her mother who recently lost her job, was unable to afford one.

Reports say the police never showed up, bringing the question, did Ettel even call them to begin with, or she just pretended to in order to scare the little girl away?

Some other observers find it ironic that Ettel who runs a medicinal marijuana business would have issues with a little girl selling water.  It has been suggested that her outfit may be operating outside the borders of the law and nobody seems to have called her out for it.

Meanwhile, Ettell has shut down her personal Facebook and Instagram accounts but continues to manage her business account, despite losing customers.

A day after, Jordan returned to the same spot and continued selling her water. Hopefully, she will raise the money she needs for her ticket.
