It’s hard to come to terms with losing a loved one, especially when it happens suddenly. Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall was absolutely devastated when her younger brother, Chris, died unexpectedly in February last year.
On February 4, within 24 hours after going missing, Chris was found dead on his property in Blackfalds, Canada. The cause of death wasn’t disclosed, but it was treated as not suspicious.
With a heavy heart, Kim announced her brother’s passing on Instagram, writing:
It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall. At this time we ask for privacy but we want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time.
A heartfelt tribute
Now, a year after he passed away, Kim paid a touching tribute to her late brother, letting everyone know she still misses him.
The actress posted a throwback photo with Chris on the day of his passing, writing:
Thinking of Chris today and everyday. We miss you.
1/2/1963 - 2/4/2018
On January 2 (it was Chris’ birthday), Kim remembered him in another post:
Christopher Adrian Alexander Cattrall 1/2/1963 - 2/4/2018 Thinking of you today and everyday. RIP x
It’s been a year, but the pain of losing a younger sibling takes a long time to heal.
A moment of joy amid grief
Three weeks after her brother died, Kim attended his memorial service at Saint Cuthbert’s Parish in Edinburgh.
Her sadness and grief was relieved for a moment and she managed to produce a smile while posing for a picture with Rev. Peter Sutton.
The actress wrote in the caption:
Thank you to St Cuthbert’s Parish Minister in Edinburgh Reverend Peter Sutton and our wonderful, joyful Scottish friends for making us laugh today. Lighting a candle in memory of our brother, son, father, & husband, Christopher Adrian Alexander Cattrall. Forever in our thoughts. RIP xo
We hope Kim and the rest of Chris’ family will have more good days than bad days and will finally find peace.
