To receive the Nobel Prize, you don’t necessarily need to be a scientist or author. Those who do the best for fraternity among countries and abolition of armies can also get one of the awards – the Nobel Peace Prize.

The nomination procedure is quite simple. Until February, members of national governments, former prize recipients, university professors, and others can nominate a person they think is worthy of the prize.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee then makes a short list of eligible candidates. In mid-September, it usually comes to a conclusion. This year, there are more than 300 candidates. And it looks like Donald Trump is one of them.

It turns out that the president’s 18 supporters in the House of Representatives sent a letter to Norway. In it, they nominated the 71-year-old for the prize.

One of the signatories is Indiana's Rep. Luke Messer. And he is quite sure Trump deserves the award. After all, he is the one who is making much effort to end the Korean War and bring peace to the region.

Actually, if Trump wins the award, he will not be the first American president to do so. In 2009, Barack Obama was bestowed with the honor for strengthening international diplomacy.

The award was also given to the U.S. vice presidents, including Al Gore for his raising awareness of climate change.

Some other famous Americans who won the prize are Theodore Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter.
