Oldest Person In The US Has Died At The Age Of 114

Ms. Delphine Gibson was born in South Carolina on August 17, 1903. She got married to Taylor Gibson in 1928 in North Carolina then relocated with him to Mount Union, Pennsylvania. The couple had three children there, Frank, Moody, and Ella.

On the 28th of February, 2017 the Department of Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne visited Mrs. Gibson who was 113 at the time. During her visit, she presented a special message from the governor, recognizing her as the oldest person in Pennsylvania and the United States.

Kammi Plummer, a director of admissions and community outreach at AristaCare, said Ms. Gibson “credits her longevity to her faith in God, church, and church family”. At the time of the visit, she was a resident at the long-term care facility in Huntingdon.

Ms. Gibson passes on

Delphine Gibson passed on this Wednesday at the age of 114. According to the Associated Press, the announcement was made by the Robert D Heath Funeral Home in Pennsylvania and the state’s governor.

Locals, such as Miranda Glover, a nursing home unit manager, told WJAC-TV earlier that the late supercentenarian liked singing and had “an amazing spirit.”

She always singing to us or sharing the Gospel. She is a treasure to the nation.

Although her passing is a big blow to the state of Pennsylvania, Ms. Gibson’s kindness will continue to warm the hearts and minds of residents for years to come.
