Date April 1, 2019 14:05

The mega-hit show, Law & Order has premiered September 13, 1990, as a U.S police procedural and legal drama series. The credit of its brilliant concept and creation goes to Dick Wolf who had launched the franchise. Its entire run was aired on NBC until May 24, 2010, when it completed its 20th and final season.

Making history

The modified franchise, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will set a major record to mark the latest renewal. The awaited season 21 will make the drama series, the longest-running live-action primetime show in American TV history. To our surprise, the record is currently held by its original parent show, Law & Order (1990-2010) along with CBSGunsmoke (1955-75).

SVU's executive producer, director, and actress, Mariska Hargitay will be crowned as the longest-running female character in a live-action primetime series. Hargitay has earned eight Emmy nominations for her role as Lt. Olivia Benson. In 2006. she also won the award for lead actress in a drama. That's a double treat!
