Date May 16, 2018 14:09

Mothers put their children first no matter what. Sometimes, they're even ready to give their lives just to protect their precious angels. One such mom chose the path of selflessness and bravery for her unborn babies.

Accepting the heartbreaking reality

In April 2017, Danielle Dick was 17 weeks pregnant when she found out about having brain and stomach cancer. She had five masses in total, which demanded immediate invasive treatment.

Dick knew that receiving such aggressive treatment could jeopardize her twins' lives. She refused medical assistance and decided to carry her unborn babies to term.

The 31-year-old already had a 2-year-old daughter with her husband. In order to support Danielle's family, her friends set up a fundraising campaign. People were heartbroken by Dick's decision and donated over $18,000 in the first week.

Ultimate sacrifice

After Danielle gave birth to her beautiful twins, she immediately started intensive treatment. Unfortunately, more tumors appeared over her pregnancy, but she never abandoned hope.

At the beginning of 2018, doctors were devastated to discover that Danielle's cancer spread to her spinal cord. There was nothing else they could do for her.

On April 25th, 10 months after Danielle welcomed her babies, she tragically passed away. But her death wasn't in vein. She gave her angels an ultimate gift of life, which they will cherish throughout their entire lives.

Mothers who put their families first are worthy of all the admiration in the world. They are the bravest and most wonderful people.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Dick family during this difficult period.
