Grammy Award-nominated country singer, Earl Thomas Conley, was born in Portsmouth, Ohio. Conley was known for his singles Holding Her and Loving You. At the age of 14, Conley left his home and decided to join the U.S Army.
While in the military Conley fell in love with country music. He began pursuing his music career in Nashville after he was discharged.
He signed with Warner Bros in 1977. Early in 1979, he had his first Top 40 hit, Dreamin's All I Do. By the end of the year, he had started performing and releasing records under his full name, Earl Thomas Conley.
For most of the '90s, Conley did not have a record label, but he continued to give concerts and tour.

One of the all time greats. If only modern “country” (you can barely call it country) music could be more like his.— Elliot Gilfix (@elliotgilfix) April 10, 2019
Saddened by this news of the passing of Earl Thomas Conley. We played many shows together, had battles on the charts and were label mates at RCA. He surely made great records... and left them here for all to enjoy. Rest In Peace my old friend. pic.twitter.com/HvOApHo9KP— Steve Wariner (@stevewariner) April 10, 2019
